GMT Blue Carbon Corridor is our flagship blue carbon initiative in North Sumatra, Indonesia. Designed as a multi-phase conservation and restoration programme, it delivers scalable climate, biodiversity, and community outcomes. Built on 5 years of on-ground delivery, the corridor reflects a proven model for large-scale blue carbon implementation.
Launched in 2021 in Langkat Regency, the initiative established a strong foundation for community-led mangrove conservation, restoration, and livelihoods. Structured across multiple strata, the corridor has expanded within Langkat and is now extending into Deli Serdang and Aceh, strengthening ecological connectivity and enabling regional scale-up.
A six-year reflection on evolving our mission, scaling impact with technology, strengthening ecosystems through education and finance, learning from challenges, and shaping a collective global vision for mangrove conservation.
